It's a Small World is my favorite attraction in Disneyland. My favorite artist ever was heavily involved in the whole project, its all super colorful and adorable, and it showcases the world which I will one day see more of! To celebrate the 50th Anniversary, I doodled on post-its a couple of my favorite sights during my lunch break at work.

Vulcan Females
Whenever I can, I try to make it to one of many figure drawing workshops around the area. Some of my favorite are modeled by Gallery Girls. With manic work hours, its sometimes not in the cards for me! This past weekend, Lisa and I were able to make it to "Peeping Tom" which had a Vulcan Female theme! Eek! Have you seen the latest Star Trek? Ugh. I love it. Here are some sketches that turned out alright.

Mad T Life Drawing
When I get a chance, I stay after work to doodle around the park. Here's some from a fairly recent bout at Mad T.

Mouth Time Travel Dream
(You can probably view it better here: http://cassieollie.deviantart.com/#/d5ei6ee )
Some quick sketches from my weird dream last night... The part I left out was that I saved my family's farm from the cavalry who were using their fighter jets (who happened to have their base in a huge hanger in the middle of one of our horse fields). I did it with my fists and sass, too! No gun necessary, which bummed my best friend (the best rifle ever). While we were all like "eh, let this be done, we've lost too many soldiers", I was strolling back to my childhood home on the hill from our pastures, and WHAT'S THIS? Someone grabs my hand. I look at my hand weirded out, but it felt really nice to hold someone's hand, so I kept holding his hand and he said "let's run away together"! And being the modern day Annie Oakley, said "Ok!" Because if you're not ready to run into Adventure head on, don't talk to me! Then the clouds turned really scary dark like they did when I was 11- red, blue, black, even purple within a few minutes of each other. It was the scariest tornado watch I remember ever witnessing in the Midwest and it was in my dream about to ruin us running away! I suggested we go back to my house, and he said he would be uncomfortable with my parents around, and I said "Fine, sit in the ditch. I'm going to ask my mom to make me cookies." Mid-fight, it started raining and I woke up!

TV Doodling and a Flower Girl
Whenever I feel burnt out I try to make it a point to do nothing. So I watch an episode of my favorite show, or a movie to try to get my inspiration mojo back in business. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. In this case, I didn't feel like working but I did feel like sketching for fun. For fun!?
And then this one, too.

Life sketches at Panera
Went sketching at Panera fairly recently with the unstoppable Steven Wells. There is a Pixie head- and it may or may not mean I saw a real Pixie.

Cheery Guttersnipe
I've been drawing non-stop recently to create new content for my portfolio. Mostly props, lots of lamps and lots of hooks and other objects to be used by people without a hand, and a churro. I've only had one churro in my life- but I remember it so well I did a turn around of it, as well as what it'd look like with a bite out of it. Yum...
So, for a minute, I was tired of drawing and wanted to give art up completely. I threw my desk against the wall and crushed the neighbor kid's chalk that he left on the sidewalk. I was done! I had enough! Then, I started daydreaming while I cleaned off the cut on my hand that I got from smashing my teacup- I was thinking that I'd like to draw a bird. So I did. Then I thought, I'm tired of Lady Lows, I want to create something new. So I did. (You won't see it for awhile- still developing the world a little more.) Then I realized the reason I didn't want to draw was because I wasn't letting myself have a little fun. So I let my hair down.
The following sketches are inspired by My Fair Lady. A welcomed distraction!

Spent sketches
Around this time last year, I entered Advanced Sketch Writing at Second City with Sean Cusick. In January, we named our show, "SPENT! You're Born, You Buy Stuff, You Die". Most of us wanted "shit" in the title, but our better judgment came to the rescue. This is the initial drawing I did during the rehearsal where we, writers, brainstormed names- by brainstorming, someone said, "how about-" and it was perfect. There are shows that take weeks to name and then there are shows that it's just too simple with everyone in agreement.

This next one was an option I started with before I got to the one above... I was trying to draw one of those plates that hang from this contraption and it just happened to be in an odd place physically for the other drawing. Not intentional. Not one bit.
